About

Meet Nehemiah Wilkinson.

Nehemiah Wilkinson was born and raised in Stanford. He started his career in public service as a firefighter at the Stanford Fire Department. From there, Nehemiah built a career in public safety, first as a 911 dispatcher for the Kentucky State Police and later teaching 911 dispatchers and police officers at the police academy in Richmond. He currently works for the Kentucky State Police, supervising a team of specialists who audit every police department and school district in the Commonwealth to assess compliance with state statute, federal law, and established policy.

Nehemiah and his wife, Tiffany, have two children, Ariah and Hezekiah. Tiffany earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Kentucky. She is a physical therapist at a long-term care facility in Stanford and has also worked in home health. There's a good chance she has cared for your family, friends, and neighbors. Nehemiah is a graduate of the University of Louisville, which makes their home living proof that love can bring together Cats and Cardinals.

Priorities

What I'll do as mayor.

These are the commitments I'm making to Stanford, and I want every resident to have a hand in accomplishing them.

A Youth Advisory Council

I will start a Youth Advisory Council so young people in Stanford have a real seat at the table, a direct line to city leaders, and opportunities to learn how local government works.

Safer sidewalks and walkable streets

I will push for investment in new and improved sidewalks so families can walk, run, and enjoy all that Stanford has to offer.

A stronger downtown and city

I will support the new initiatives of the Chamber of Commerce, and I will stand behind the small businesses that already make our city and downtown special and make it easier for new ones to open, so Main Street stays the heart of Stanford.

Neighbors helping neighbors

I will build a trusted volunteer network where neighbors who have passed a background check can sign up to help seniors and single parents with everyday tasks, from small repairs and yard work to errands and a hand around the house, so anyone who needs a little support knows exactly where to turn.

Support for our first responders

I will make sure our police department, fire department, and other first responders have the equipment, fair pay, and staffing they need to keep response times fast as our town grows.

Open and transparent government

I will hold regular town halls, strive to make it clear how the city government spends its money, and keep regular office hours so any resident can talk to the mayor without an appointment.

I am committed to finding creative ways to get everyone involved in city government. Stanford works best when all of us have a hand in it.
